Kike Fajardo

A story of great dreams.

Born in Quito on July 28, 1976, he is a cartoonist, photographer, illustrator, graphic designer, and marketer. He studied graphic design at the Latinoamericano de Diseño in Quito. In 1998, he completed a photography internship at Diario El Comercio, one of Ecuador's leading newspapers. His 1999 thesis consisted of a series of caricatures of the ten most significant presidents in Ecuador's history, employing various artistic techniques such as oil, charcoal, sepia, colored pencils, and acrylic. (Vicente Rocafuerte, Eloy Alfaro, Gabriel García Moreno, Antonio Flores Jijón, Velasco Ibarra, Jaime Roldós Aguilera, Galo Plaza Lasso, León Febres Cordero, Sixto Durán Ballén, Abdalá Bucaram Ortiz).

2000

He began working as a freelance illustrator for La Familia magazine at Diario El Comercio.

In 2001, he was hired as an illustrator by its competitor, the capital's newspaper El Hoy, where he published several caricatures of prominent figures such as Bill Gates, John Pierpont Morgan, and Alan Greenspan, among others. That same year, he joined the fashion design department of the prestigious retail store Marathon Sports as a graphic designer.
Shortly after, he developed a collection of prints for the American brand NEW BALANCE, designs that reached the shelves of major retail stores worldwide.

Ecuador qualified for its first World Cup in history, Korea-Japan 2002, and he was responsible for designing the goalkeeper's jersey worn by José Francisco Cevallos during the tournament. That same year, he joined the Marathon Sports marketing team, where he led the creation of the in-house creative department. His creative contributions helped the company gain entry into the HALL OF FAME for brands.

2004

He studied 3D design at Aula Temática in Madrid, Spain.
In 2006, after Ecuador's national soccer team qualified for the Germany World Cup, he was tasked with designing the team's official jersey. That same year, he completed a diploma in Strategic Marketing Management at the Tec de Monterrey.
In 2007, he managed the relationship with Atlético Nacional de Medellín, a club sponsored by UMBRO, contributing to their championship victory.

2008 was a remarkable year for Ecuadorian sports. On May 1, 2008, Iván Vallejo reached the summit of Dhaulagiri, completing the Challenge 14, which involved climbing all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters without supplemental oxygen. On July 2, Liga de Quito won the coveted Copa Libertadores with an outstanding performance by José Francisco Cevallos in a penalty shootout. In August 2008, Jefferson Pérez earned his second Olympic medal in Beijing.
To honor these achievements, he immortalized these moments in caricatures, which became Marathon Sports' Christmas campaign for that year.

2009

He studied at the Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies and participated in the MINAF project (International Master's in Football Business and Administration).

In 2010, he led the e-business project for www.marathon-sports.com.

In 2011, he traveled to Panama City to join the marketing team of the English brand Umbro as a marketing manager for Central America, the Caribbean, and Ecuador.

In March 2016, he founded O2 Design Mkt, a Marketing, Communication & Advertising Agency www.o2designmkt.com , marking the beginning of new adventures.
